GolinHarris and Eight IPG Companies Relocate for Increased Synergy

John Morgan, managing director for GolinHarris in Hong Kong, welcomes an auspicious start to the year with a traditional Chinese lion dance. A new era: GolinHarris in Hong Kong is now located at Oxford House, Taikoo Place.
December 19 officially marked the beginning of a new era for GolinHarris in Hong Kong when the firm relocated to a new office. The move is part of an effort by GH’s parent company, Interpublic Group, to foster collaboration between IPG companies through relocation in the same building—in this case, Oxford House at Taikoo Place, one of the city’s premier office developments.

The move is good not only for GH—where consultants are already enjoying the more spacious and modern layout and views of Victoria Harbour—but also for GH’s clients, who now have easier access to an array of valuable marketing resources offered by eight of the firm’s sister agencies and their subsidiaries.

"We’re off to a terrific start in 2006, with a new office and an exciting new slate of clients," said John Morgan, managing director for GolinHarris in Hong Kong. "The move to Oxford House in Quarry Bay puts us within seconds of the city’s most accomplished communications professionals in advertising, special events, and branding—all IPG companies—as well as a state-of-the-art building in an accessible, prestigious location."

GH recently commemorated the new year and the new office with a traditional Chinese lion dance performance, symbolizing strength and prosperity for 2006.

Shanghai Welcomes Year of the Dog
Harris Diamond

On 10 January, China Interpublic Group colleagues from GolinHarris, Weber Shandwick, Powell Tate and Octagon gathered to usher in the new year and celebrate what has been a prosperous 2005. The China team also welcomed Harris Diamond, CEO of Interpublic Group’s Constituency Management Group, as leader to the festivities. Harris flew to Shanghai from New York to help his China colleagues see in the "Year of the Dog."

The celebration was held at Shikumen Bistro, a newly opened French restaurant in the hip Shanghai district of Xin Tian Di.

The official proceedings included speeches made by Andrew Pirie, regional managing director, Asia Pacific, and Diane Wu, managing director of GolinHarris in Shanghai.

Lydia Lee, associate director of GolinHarris in Shanghai, also presented a video that showed 2005 highlights from the four IPG brands. The video was an impressive snapshot of the great work that has been done for clients in the past year.

To top off the great night, there was also a swing and samba dance performance. The dancers changed into a number of elaborate costumes and even involved members of the audience. Staff were also given traditional lucky red envelopes at the end of the evening. The party wound down with a toast to 2006.
