Underlining Continental’s Partnership with the 2006 World Cup

GolinHarris in Germany is working with Continental, one of the key sponsors for the 2006 World Cup.
This spring, GolinHarris and Lowe/Change in Germany have been working on a project for Continental, one of the world's leading suppliers to the automotive industry and a key official sponsor of the 2006 World Cup. The team at Lowe/Change has devised a nationwide television, print and outdoor advertising campaign, tying in with the football sponsorship, whilst the GolinHarris team has masterminded an international PR initiative centered on the "Do it with German Engineering" tagline and linking the sporting engagement with industry competitiveness and innovation.

One of the main elements is the "Conti Champions Team," an international consortium focused on excellence in engineering that involves a number of universities around the world and helps position Continental as a global, innovative and "gold standard" company. GolinHarris in Frankfurt is working together with 17 other offices, drawing on the benefits of GHXchange to ensure success.

Taking American Cotton to Germany

The GH team helped promote Cotton USA as a quality label.

Cotton Council International has tasked GolinHarris in Germany with a three-year project to increase consumer awareness of the Cotton USA trademark.

Cotton Council International is the export arm of the National Cotton Council of America and is dedicated to increasing exports of US cotton and cotton products.

The challenge for the agency is that the Cotton USA label is not widely known in Germany, and there are few German companies licensed to use the trademark. The team's strategy is to establish Cotton USA among consumers as a quality label of "pure cotton," and promote cotton as a natural fiber.

The PR program includes a nationwide promotion tour to introduce the brand to consumers in Germany, and to demonstrate the quality of Cotton USA. A campaign in spring 2006 with the theme "Cotton cares for children" is also being run in partnership with children's charity SOS-Kinderdorf, with donations from every Cotton USA product sold going to the charity.

Hosting the First Lifestyle Poker Tournament

GH helped World Poker Exchange make its debut in the UK.

In August, GolinHarris helped virtually unknown online poker site World Poker Exchange make its UK debut by hosting the first-ever lifestyle poker tournament.

The team ran a tight and targeted PR-driven campaign to ensure World Poker Exchange messages would impact the poker-saturated UK news outlets and stand out from competitors that were spending millions on marketing and advertising.

The pre-promotion campaign, red-carpet opening night party and three-day poker tournament exceeded all PR expectations. The campaign generated more than 19 million media impressions around the world, and 110 journalists attended the opening night party and the exclusive poker tournament.

Coverage of the event spanned nearly every national newspaper, with features on national morning and radio shows and multiple mentions in every poker trade title.

Making the Lions Roar!

Lever’s new antiperspirant is the official deodorant sponsor of the Lions’ Rugby Tour of New Zealand.

GolinHarris in London has been lending a sporting hand to Lever’s new antiperspirant ‘Sure for Men.’ The brand was the official deodorant sponsor for the Lions’ Rugby Tour of New Zealand, and the team’s primary task was to create noise around the sponsorship and gain widespread media coverage on and off the sports pages.

Armed with New Zealand tour tickets, signed rugby balls and stats from a specially commissioned survey on sweating (yes, it’s official … men do sweat, and they smell more than women!), GH pitched stories and sold in competitions to national newspapers, radio stations and websites, delivering 54 hits and reaching a total audience of 18 million in three weeks.
