The Taipei office of GolinHarris was recently selected by the International Public Relations Association Golden World Awards jury to receive an honorable mention award in Internal Communications for their campaign, 'My First 10--Making Your Vision a Reality,' for client Merck Display Technologies (MDT).

The GH team created an extensive 10-year anniversary program in less than two months to strengthen the corporate culture of MDT. The theme of the campaign, "My First 10--Making Your Vision a Reality," highlighted the principle that employees’ vision has driven the company over the years.

The campaign involved building a crystal pyramid constructed of 300 crystal bricks that represented the irreplaceable value of each employee. There was also a gala dinner and an exclusive train ride for all employees which gave them a chance to connect. This also represented the pioneer spirit of the organization. GH also designed the "Merck Pioneering Spirit Awards," which were presented at the dinner. At the gala party, management took the stage in a "Hip-Hop Dance" designed by GH to create an interactive element.

According to a survey conducted after the campaign, 95.4 percent of MDT employees felt the campaign was successful. Even more important, nearly 75 percent of MDT employees felt proud to be members of MDT, and 70 percent felt their passion for work had been reignited.

"I would like to thank the team for this wonderful and unforgettable event. It has helped re-invigorate the spirit of all," said Thomas Lee, President, MDT.

Winners Announced for the Asia Pacific Leadership Awards

After much anticipation, the winners of the 2005 Asia Pacific Leadership Awards have now been announced. This internal staff awards program recognizes and rewards GolinHarris employees at all levels who have made a meaningful contribution towards the collective success of the company. The awards program also extends to staff from selected IPG agencies including Jack Morton Worldwide, Octagon and FutureBrand.

The strict selection criterion involves evaluating which colleagues exemplify the ethos of leadership in their working environment. The award entrants write down their contribution according to the following categories: client leadership; market leadership; workplace leadership; and operational leadership.

The eight GolinHarris winners will join 18 other IPG colleagues to enjoy a three-day retreat to an exotic Asian location towards the end of the month.

The awards have proven to be a successful way to raise morale and help connect colleagues within the IPG network. One winner from last years awards commented: "The retreat was a wonderful opportunity to interact with colleagues from around the region, and our sister companies. It was a very rewarding and enriching experience, and I gained a wealth of new knowledge and insights from a group of very talented PR and communications professionals, while having loads of fun."
