This is an important year for the region as all eyes are on Asia for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The same goes for GolinHarris in Asia Pacific.
Opportunities abound, and as I reflect on what we have accomplished recently, it's evident that we are well-equipped to make the most of this promising time. We are constantly breaking new ground with our creativity, dedication and unique people-first approach—and we continue to grow and build momentum throughout the region.
GH's creativity in Asia Pacific has been nothing short of dynamic. Consider Life Journeys, the second annual fashion calendar we helped launch for Cotton Council International (CCI) in Hong Kong. Released to high expectations after the award-winning success of the first calendar, Life Journeys was once again a triumph with celebrities and models from high fashion brands participating in a creative presentation at the calendar’s launch.
Our team also demonstrated outside-the-box thinking with their thought-provoking event for HotelClub’s new travel guidebook. Experts debated the question, “Is the travel guidebook dead?” which creatively gave HotelClub the opportunity to promote their latest offering.
As for dedication, we never hesitate to go the extra mile. Take a look at what our team in Shanghai was able to accomplish in only three weeks when A1GP called on them for urgent media support ahead of an automobile race in Zhuhai, China. Our fierce efforts garnered over 120 media clippings in one weekend alone. Also in China, GH’s perseverance generated huge success for Nederlander New Century’s production of “42nd Street” across the country—resulting in the client according us its “Best Partner” award in January 2008.
Most inspiring are our recent campaigns across Asia Pacific to support clients as they carry out corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. For GH, people are always top priority, and to be facilitating projects that help our people help others is immensely rewarding and essential work. For example, the “Life Journeys” calendar described above not only helped CCI build its brand but also comprised a CSR initiative that donated all proceeds to Care for Children, a nonprofit dedicated to orphaned or abandoned children in China. In Australia, our team continues to provide pro-bono support to the Oncology Children’s Foundation by helping them fundraise millions for research into childhood cancers. And in Singapore, GH recently attracted media attention to long-time client, DHL, for their support of a campaign that brought sports gear donated by Singaporean athletes to refugees in Moldova. You’ll find many more examples of GH’s efforts to support our clients’ CSR work in this edition of Breakthrough.
Our achievements these past few months have been infused with forward-thinking and commitment to our clients and communities—qualities that promise continued growth and success in the future. To all of our valued clients, partners and colleagues, I wish you a wonderful new year and extend our thanks for your invaluable support.
